The Working Man's Cafe?

A proposed new national chain of "food-led" cafes has been unveiled. Talk about re-inventing the wheel! The first Rex Cafe opened last month in Muswell Hill - for those of you who don't see the irony: Ray Davies (of the Kinks), who grew up in the area, released an album in 2007 bemoaning the loss of the traditional "greasy-spoon"

Wirral food factory to close

Givaudan, a Swiss-owned food manufacturer, has today announced plans to close its Bromborough factory which produces savoury dry powder flavours.

Paul Heathcote has closed his Liverpool restaurant

In breaking news, The Liverpool Daily Post reports that Heathcote's Liverpool restaurant is closing today (25th Aug 2010).
